PhiladelphiaJust a 1/2 hour ride on Septa Regional Rail route Media/Elwin into center city Philadelphia. Enjoy the Avenue of the Arts, Olde City, the museums or the rather eclectic South Street. King of Prussia MallA 1/2 hour drive north and you’ll reach one of the country’s largest shopping “Meccas” - the King of Prussia Mall. With over 400 stores, you could spend more than a day here and with Bloomingdales, Nordstoms, Neiman Marcus, Lord & Taylor, Tiffany & Co. you could spend a fortune here too. However, the array of stores is incredibly diverse with something for everyone. While you’re there, plan on a meal at one of more than 20 restaurants in the mall or several around the mall. Brandywine Valley30 minutes to the west along route 1 (Baltimore Pike) and you’ll come to Brandywine Battlefield and the historic Brandywine Valley. Among the attractions are Longwood Gardens, Winterthur Museum, Hagley and the Brandywine River Museum. Scott ArboretumOf course, you’re also less than a block away from Swarthmore College’s own Scott Arboretum. |
